Worship Services

Sunday Morning Services:

At Liberton Northfield we gather for worship together on Sunday mornings at 11.00am. These services are held in our church at 280 Gilmerton Road (EH16 5UR).

You are welcome to join us on any Sunday. There is no formality about attending.

Free on-street parking is available though we encourage you to take public transport if you can.

During our worship service we follow a structure which will be familiar to many, of prayers, hymns and a sermon by the minister.

What can you expect coming to our morning service?

A warm welcome and friendliness (even behind masks during the pandemic!).

We include different styles from formal to contemporary – yes, we are a mixed bunch, so we sing various kinds of hymns. In the New Testament, Ephesians 5:19 says: “Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

During the service we have prayers, we consider some passages in the Bible (bring yours if you have one, but it is not expected), and we have a sermon which focuses on what the Bible teaches us for our everyday lives as we seek to follow Jesus Christ.

Liberton Northfield Parish Church is a place where everyone who wants to know more about Jesus is welcome.

We know that different folk have different needs, some have doubts, all of us are vulnerable, some are searching, others are in awe and just want to worship – this is a place for all who need a place of belonging. Belonging to God and to a community of people who feel, think and live in similar ways.

For this reason, we try to see our morning worship as a place to find rest in God, to reflect, to worship and pray, to share in fellowship with others who seek to follow Jesus, and to find inspiration for our Christian journey.

Sunday Evening Services:

Join us in our weekly Sunday online evening service at 7.00 pm, when we worship Jesus and explore key issues of the Christian faith, applicable to our lives.

The services are very informal and you can join us in the comfort of your own setting. During these gatherings we sing, read the Bible, discuss various Biblical themes and share in fellowship and prayer. Themes are set out each month and the topics are sent by email in advance.

If you would like to join us on a Sunday evening, please contact us using our online inquiry form.
